The WiFi Connection

As pointed out to me by Sleestacks the other day, I am an internet Dork, not a nerd. The difference being that somtimes I still have to email or IM him with questions about how to do something techie. And apparrently one of my mad skills is not googling. Oh well.

BUT, this AM, rather than being awakened in the usual manner, Fer brought me a cup of coffee and the lap top, with the Direction that I MUST read the recap of revelations on the Howard show. And if you don't know who Howard is, you're dead to me.

Anyway, so here I sit, having had a chuckle or two at the revelations, wanting one of the keychains designed for Howard's birthday and the new Show... hating that I do not yet have Sirius, typing in my blog, and watching the morning news, all from the comfort of my California King Bed. Nice nice nice. Good way to start the day I think. And I think the sun is coming out... so things can't be that bad today.

In Other News:

Thursday and we are almost through the week. Things are looking up for Bean-a in the illin' department, and its my turn to get in the shower. I guess I have to go. But... I have 2 questions, both of them serious....
1. Why have none of you weighed in on The House that Jack built? I wasn't kidding when I said discuss. Do you think I am just going to tell you without some work here people?
2. Do I want an Ipod NANO or sirius satalite radio for my birthday? Any suggestions?

It's a boots kinda day

It's 7:20am and I have been up for almost 2 1/2 hours. And I'm only on my 2nd cup of coffee. Do you even know how wrong that is?

Do you ever have one of those days where regular shoes don't seem to cut it? Like there's this underlying feeling that if you don't wear a pair of like, shit-kicker boots, that there is no possible way that you can make it through the day? No? I guess its jut me then. Either way, today is one of those days. And thank god I ordered those new Rocket Dog boots from Zappos... thats the kind of day this is going to be. I can feel it.

Yesterday I stayed home from school to help Elliott recouperate from the Double Ear Infection (DEI). Things were going swimmingly even if 1/2 her food ended up on the kitchen floor, because hey, she really didn't feel that well. But her fever was gone, so we are almost through the woods so to speak, right?

WRONG.

Now, where the hell do I get off at this point, still assuming that things are going to be easy. I mean, its not like either her or I were born yesterday, so why I keep doing this to myself is really beyond me. Barkyboy told me once that if I was not uncomfortable in some way, I would not feel comfortable at all. Too True.

So, after Elliott went to bed a little later than usual, she woke up at 9, 10:30, 12:45, and up at 5am. Did I mention that every time she woke up she was screaming, unconsolable, and farting like she was going to have explosive diarrhea? Did I mention before that I love the way Antibiotics have a way of attacking the intestinal tract? Its super fun when it happens to toddlers.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Good Times.

In Other News:

We're all going to work and school today. I could feel bad about sending Elliott to school in a condition that makes her breathe fire at you if you look at her wrong, but honestly, she's fine, so isn't that what I am paying them for anyway? Besides, I'm gonna have an aneurism if I stay home with her today.

So help me god, amen.

The House that Jack Built

You know how I was leading you on in November with all the Secrets? Well, I got word that one of them I can now reveal. And who knows, maybe you don't even care anymore. You don't even want to know. BUT, I guarantee that you are curious.... and maybe curiosity really DID kill the cat.

So, a friend of a friend, a real artist/musician, was in the market for new digs in the NE Ohio area. Life changes and all, so he was looking around at a few different places on the market. Price ranges, locations, you know, all the shit you take into account when you are checkin things out and you kinda want a "deal".

Now the secret was that he found a deal, a really awesome house for quite a steal. And I couldn't tell you about it for a few reasons. I mean, it was no big deal anyway if it never was finalized. But now it is. Keys and move-in happened... things are settled.

And its a super cute ranch style house.
In Bath, OH.
That he got for quite a deal.
So whats the secret?

Think about it, and you tell me. Could it be the house that Jack Built?

That's how I roll

Since Sunday nights have turned into my Saturday nights, often times it means nothing much. I mean Fer & Bean have work/school Mondays, so its kinda like I have no weekends anymore. BUT, not this weekend. Tonight, it's Saturday night for all 3 of us. Fer has off for drMLKjr Day (hows that for an abbreviation),. And of course we had big plans. Tonight started us off with Raspberry Wadka Sodas with a twist of lime, and movies. Complete with comfort food and sweets, and the best thing of all:

Elliott has a double ear infection. I know I know, how lucky can 1 momma get?

See, yesterday before I left for school, and missed the bus, and had to have Fer & bean-na pick me up at the bus stop so that it did not cost me $12 yet again this week to get to school, I mentioned that since it seemed like her virus had left a lingering cold that was just holding on too strong, that maybe we should drop her by the weekend hours for the Dr. You know, just to double check.

So Fer did just that. And there were like 50 sick and snotty kids in the office by the time he got there, so... since it was nothing really, just my paranoia, mission aborted. Only to have her wake up from her afternoon nap with a 103 fever. RIGHT ON.

So back at the Dr this am, 4th in line, for double ear infections/complete with pus. AWESOME. I feel like the best mom on earth right now.

So much for the weekend plans to send her to school tomorrow and catch a move for the first time in a year. Maybe we'll make it before the end of 2006. Maybe that's going to be my resolution... ha ha.

Anyway.... thought you all would like to know that we have moved on from Pink Eye to bigger and better things. The only reason I can find for me to have not yet fallen deathly ill is that no one in my little family would have any food to eat while I was out of commission. As long as duty calls, right?

So yeah, thats how I roll.

In Other News:

We found out tonight that there is a Neighborhoodies store in Wicker Park on Paulina. And since the only thing I can manage to order online is shoes, we are so going to go there and FINALLY get those LA neighborhoodies we'd been promising ourselves for a few years.

Crazy hair day

A Picture Share!, originally uploaded by nonobaddao.

i guess its friday. i picked Elliott up from school only a little while ago, and this is what her hair looked like. Beyond a bad hair day. But what I really wonder, is what is she doing at school all day to make her hair look like that?

All the teacher had to say today was "Elliott, she is really into everything. Everything."

Thank god its friday.

Fun with Ketchup!

I decided last night that Elliott would have naked dinner. She's had a righteous diaper rash all week (i know, like pink eye and a cold was not enough for one babe to take) so I thought she could use some "air out" time. Women and anyone with kids knows what I'm talkin bout. Sometimes its the only thing you can do. And since I recently found out that she LOVES ketchup, I cooked up some chicken nuggets & veggies, hooked up the ketchup, cranked up the heat so she didn't get cold, and took some photos. Cute huh?.

We narrowed the diaper rash down to new wipes they were using at school. So now that I restocked the supply there of ELLIOTT ONLY wipes and a TON of butt cream, things should be on the mend.

As usual, I'll keep you updated, and i KNOW you want to be.
Love Ya

If you're happy and you know it

Clap your hands!!

There are a few songs these days that really get Elliott laughing... and just so you're prepared for our next encounter, I thought i'd list them here:
1. If you're happy and you know it.
2. The Itsy-bitsy spider, complete with hand motions. When the rain comes down, or the sun comes up, its the best thing thats ever happened.
3. Hickory Dickory Dock.
4. Good Morning to You. Ask either of my sisters too if you don't know this one. Thanks to Choir and Miss Felber its burned into my brain forever.
#5, with a bullet: 3 Blind Mice. And true to her Momma's nature, she LOVES it when you act like you are chopping something when you hit "She cut off their tails with a Carving Knife!" I mean, come on... who doesn't.

Happy tuesday.

What the hell is happening here

You tell me...

Somehow, I woke up and it's 2006. Not only 2006, but already 9 days into the year. I know that may not seem like a lot, but to me it seems like time is leaving me in the dust.

I meant to talk to you around Christmas, honest. And then I thought for sure there would be time to catch up before New Years. But now here we are, and I am starting to feel the gap between us growing. Where is the intimacy? Where have our late nights gone, Dear Internet? I miss you. And I know, I know its my fault. And if I loved you so, I wouldn't spend so much time away. I'm always making promises I can't keep... but i am sure you know me by now... so just hang on.

Good times abound round here these days. Seriously. Bean-a has Pink Eye. I just picked up her meds and she should be on the mend. Good thing I have all the personal pink eye knowledge from youth, I caught it only 2 days in. (even though a whole lot of somebodies didn't want to believe me! ha ha) Her viral infection from the week between christmas and new years went away mostly, but she has a lingering cold that seems to produce massive amounts of snot. If one of us does not end up with either a cold or pink eye as well, i think it will be a miracle.

This weekend we spent less than 24 hours out at Katochanel's new digs in Miller Beach IN. Fer painted the kitchen, I made curtains, recovered chairs and drank some wine. Good times, good times.

Of course since the pink eye was just upon us, and we were all sleeping in the same room, and all 4 of elliott's vampire (canine, what do you call those 4? incisors? who knows) teeth are coming in at the same time, she decided not to sleep from 12:45 am to 3am and then woke up ready to start the day at 6:45am. Good lord I tell you. The only thing that saved me from losing my mind (yet again) was that she was SUPER DUPER cuddly and kept kissing us and being sweet and kind. And anyone who has a 17 month with an attitude can attest that normally that behavior is in short supply. So i took it while i could get it.

which leads us to today. Its another grey day and Bean is napping away. There are mountains of laundry in the basement waiting for me, and chores aplenty, but i just really wanted to say hello.

Hello.
